Obama’s mention of the highly controversial Keystone XL pipeline during his speech points to an eminent approval of the project. Obama said that the pipeline should only be approved if the project would not “significantly exacerbate” greenhouse gas pollution. It is important to note the State Department has already found “no significant environmental impact” from the project in its last two published studies. Moreover, the State Department’s final draft study carries similar language and a little known study by the Energy Department also failed to find any adverse consequences. Also released today, was a fourth study mandated by Congress  undermining claims by opponents that Canadian Oil Sands oil is more corrosive than other oil.  It isn’t like we have been saying.    Keystone XL here we come!
