Loveland Colorado is a family-friendly Denver suburb that is also right in the middle of the Niobrara Shale, an oil and gas formation that has been producing energy for America for a half century. Recently, citizens in Loveland went to the polls to decide if they would allow Fracking inside their city limits.
Colorado has already adopted some of the most reasonable and stringent state regulations for controlling the drilling and fracking processes. And….Loveland already adopted a 1,000-foot setback so that no drilling could be within 3 football fields of a home, business, church or school.
And with that….Loveland voters said “YES”. Fracking is OK.
Now….realistically, is there likely to be any drilling in the middle of town. Of course not. But the residents of Loveland made a statement: It’s OK to produce our own energy….with reasonable and responsible limits.
I salute you, Loveland and THANK YOU
