We recently told the story of Juan Carlos Torres on our Powering America Radio Show. Juan moved from Mexico City in 1985 after a major earthquake hit the area. He packed up and headed to Las Vegas, where he met his wife & had a family. Then, after hearing about the oil boom in the Bakken Shale….they headed east to check it out.
The family settled in Sidney, Montana, a quiet town just across the border from all the Bakken action. He bought a food truck and now he, his son Teo and daughter Vanessa, cook up home-made Mexican food for the Bakken oil workers. Teo says the family is now living their life-long dream. I love stories like this where people’s lives are changed for the good because of the oil boom.
