Hat’s off to the people of Santa Barbara County California. They resoundingly voted NOT to ban oil production. There are over 18 federal, state and local regulatory bodies overseeing production in the county and those restrictions are some of the toughest in the world.
Production of oil and gas – both on….and off-shore….has been done safely in California for over a century, and residents, by a wide margin, agreed it was a vital part of their community. In Denton, Texas, however, the town was duped by a small group of highly vocal, ill-informed, upset residents who distorted facts and drove out fracking.
Today, I’m very pleased to report that California “gets it”. Denton will get it too…after they’ve spent most of their city budget funding attorneys, only to have their vote overturned in court.
